Increased human activity has caused a regime shift in lake ecosystem, which causes environmental and ecological problems such as biodiversity decline, algae blooms deterioration of water quality. Many Chinese lakes have undergone or are facing the risk abrupt change. It is essential to know temporal spatial differences for protecting preventing formulating appropriate restoration strategies. This study collected paleolimnology data 55 different regions China discussed regional characteristics mutations. The determined ecosystem revealed reasons differences. Our found that time differentiation: middle lower reaches Yangtze River much earlier than whole country. Regime happens east northeast areas southwest, Inner Mongolia Xinjiang lakes. In various region, suburban rural intensity activities main driving force shift. Lakes with slower warming but stronger more likely undergo result suggests affected evolution progress ecosystems From perspective change this uses summarize under activities, achieves deeper understanding current situation lakes, provides strong scientific basis protection.

Body size distributions signal a regime shift in a lake ecosystem.
Communities of organisms, from mammals to microorganisms, have discontinuous distributions of body size. This pattern of size structuring is a conservative trait of community organization and is a product of processes that occur at multiple spatial and temporal scales. In this study, we assessed whether body size patterns serve as an indicator of a threshold between alternative regimes. Over th...

Summer maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the dominant crops in the North China Plain (NCP). Its growth is greatly influenced by the spatial-temporal variation of climatic variables, especially solar radiation, temperature and rainfall. The WOFOST (version 7.1) model was applied to evaluate the impact of climatic variability on summer maize yields using historical meteorological data from 1961 to 20...

Reservoirs have altered the flow regime of most rivers on the globe. To simulate the natural flow regime, experimental floods are being implemented on regulated rivers throughout the world to improve their ecological integrity. As a large-scale disturbance, the long-term sequential use of floods provides an excellent empirical approach to examine ecosystem regime shifts in rivers. This study ev...

The distribution pattern of Bullacta exarata was studied in different seasons of 2004 at south shore of Hangzhou Bay, China. We found that the distribution pattern of B. exarata was aggregated in each season by Taylor's power regression and Iwao's plot regresses methods (P < 0.001). Based on two-way ANOVA analysis, the results indicated that the densities were significantly affected by the fact...
